If approved and levied in its entirety, this millage raises an estimated $130,000.00 in the first calendar year after its approval. All revenue shall be appropriated by the Newaygo County Board of Commissioners and only disbursed to the Newaygo County Department of Veterans Affairs to fund its operations. Meet Ashes November 21, 2007

I posted a picture of our new cat a few days ago. Now we have a name: Ashes! Kari calls her Ash for short. She’s about 10 weeks old. I took her to the vet a couple days ago to get her starter vaccinations and have her tested for FeLV (negative!). She’s a little young yet to check for FIV. She’s getting flea and deworming (just in case) treatment as well since she was in a litter of backyard cats. And she has to go back in three weeks for booster shots. Remember! There’s no such thing as a “free” cat!
Sabrina is getting along with her much better now. At first she’d hiss and spit at Ashes if she approached her. If Ashes surprised her she’d take a swipe! On Tuesday they seemed to have come to some kind of truce because Sabrina stopped the hissing. Today they actually sat in my lap together! They’re not quite best friends yet but I’m much more optimistic that they’ll get along than I was a few days ago.
Of course, any cat has its eccentricities. In contrast to Sabrina, Ashes is much less playful; preferring to be in your lap than slapping around a ball. She’s been more active in the last day or two though so maybe she just had to get used to the new place.
Her favorite toy, really the only one she plays with right now, is Sabrina’s old dolphin. Ashes favorite spot in the house seems to be under the table on top of the chairs. If she’s not in your lap that’s where she’s at!
I have to admit that I was a little skeptical about her at first. I was really taken off-guard by Sabrina’s behavior. Thing seem to be getting better now though and I think it’ll work out fine.

I got an interesting coin back in change today at the local pizza place. It’s a 5 cent Euro piece from Italy:

The Friday Random 10 returns! If they start bumping against each other I’ll probably discontinue it again, but maybe this’ll help spur me to post more often. Kari’s CD collection has also been added to mine so there’s a little more diversity, especially in the country genre. Here we go!
- Lucky to be Here – Blessid Union of Souls
- Ben Folds Five – Cigarette
- Guns n’ Roses – Hair of the Dog
- Boston – My Destination
- Jo Dee Messina – Cover Me
- Sarah McLachlan – Sweet Surrender
- Shania Twain – I’m Outta Here
- Radiohead – No Surprises
- Sheryl Crow – Anything But Down
- LotR: The Two Towers OST – The King of the Golden Hall
