A very long and boring list of counties, cities, townships and villages is below the fold. Read if you dare!

Car update February 11, 2008

I got two new tires put on the front of the car today. I could tell the difference right away! That relieves some of my worries about the car. Hopefully my ignition switch will continue to work properly…
Here’s a picture of my car by the way. A 2003 Saturn Ion. I like it!
2008 Fremont School Board Election February 10, 2008

This election will be held on May 6, 2008. As usual I make no guarantees of 100% accuracy. Check the Newaygo County Clerk’s website for more information on this election. An “inc.” after the name indicates that the candidate is an incumbent.
11 Feb 2008 Update: Added Neil James Featherstone to Fremont School Board candidates.
13 Feb 2008 Update: Added Ty Miller to Fremont School Board candidates. The candidate filing deadline was yesterday so this list should be final.
Fremont School Board (vote for two)
- Phil Harmon (inc.)
- Neil James Featherstone (inc.)
- Ty Miller
Proposals
Operating Millage Renewal Proposal
This proposal will allow the school district to continue to levy the statutory rate of 18 mills on all property, except principal residence and other property exempted by law, required for the school district to receive its revenue per pupil foundation allowance
Shall the limitation on teh amount of taxes which may be assessed against all property, except principal residence and other property exempted by law, in Fremont Public Schools, Newaygo, Muskegon and Oceana Counties, Michigan, be increased by 18 mills ($18.00 on each $1,000 of taxable valuation) for a period of 5 years, 2008 to 2012, inclusive, to provide funds for operating purposes; the estimate of the revenue the school district will collect if the millage is approved and levied in 200 is approximately $2,640,000 (this is a renewal of millage which expired with the 2007 tax levy)?
Car troubles February 10, 2008

As usual, everything happens at once! Here are the problems I’ve had with my car lately:
- Car won’t start. This has happened twice now. The problem is most likely with the ignition switch and the very cold weather we’ve had. Probably going to wait a bit before I have the switch replaced.
- Broken windshield wiper assembly. One of the components on the driver’s side wiper assembly broke. Kari’s dad came up with the idea of using JB Weld to stick it back together instead of replacing the entire motor. Appears to be working so far.
- Car stuck, twice. Kari and I checked on some friends’ pets early this morning and my car got stuck in their driveway. Kari’s dad to the rescue again! He pulled us out (also accidentally pulling a spring out from one of my rear wheels, which he repaired later) and then I got stuck again trying to turn onto another road. Fortunately some pushing enabled my annoyingly-hard-to-tow car to get going again.
- Bad tires. Following the previous two incidents we discovered that my front tires are very worn. I’ll be taking my car in soon to have them replaced.
I think that about covers it. In the meantime Kari’s car is still truckin’ along with over 193,000 miles on it. I just passed 37,000 miles on mine the other day.
*Edit* I forgot to mention that Kari also got my car stuck when she borrowed it once last week to drive to work. Her coworkers helped her get it out of the snowbank.

Here’s a hilarious “guide” to Counter Strike I found while browsing Youtube this morning. It covers all the important stuff.
Beware as the language is definitely not safe for work!
