What a game! Notre Dame beat MSU 40-37. :-( MSU played great until the second half and then ND stepped it up and took the lead in the final minutes. I really thought MSU had it in the bag. Maybe next week.

MSU Football Off to a 3-0 Start September 16, 2006

MSU defeated Pittsburgh 38-23 today.  I’m glad to see my alma mater doing so well this season.  Unfortunately I haven’t been able to actually watch any of their games yet.  They seem to always play on the one channel we don’t get on the satellite.  I’m not a close follower of college football either so I’m not sure if the Spartan’s prospects are good this season or if the teams they’ve defeated so far were strong opponents.

I’m watching the University of Michigan vs. Notre Dame game right now.  UoM is leading 34-14 at the half.  Who do I root for here?  On one hand I’m an MSU alumnus which seems to give me an obligation to hate UoM; on the other hand the constant media hype Notre Dame gets on my local channels is rather annoying.  MSU plays Notre Dame next weekend so perhaps a loss would lower their morale and enable an easier win for the Spartans.  Either outcome seems to work in my favor.

MSU starts their football season with a game against Idaho today. Unfortunately the channel it’s playing on appears to the be the one channel we don’t get with the satellite.

If UoM loses to Vanderbilt I’ll feel a little better….

MSU leading 7-0 over Idaho at the moment (just saw a clip of the touchdown).

SMART-1 to Impact Moon; Football Results September 10, 2006

The ESA’s SMART-1 spacecraft will crash into the Moon tonight in a controlled collision.  SMART-1′s mission has been over for a year and its fuel is gone so scientists decided to crash it into the Moon in an attempt to learn more about the lunar composition.  It’s possible that you might be able to see the flash or a dust cloud stirred up by the crash tonight with binoculars or a telescope.

This wouldn’t be the first time that something’s collided with the Moon.

UoM beat Vanderbilt by the way.  :-(   I haven’t seen MSU’s game latest score but MSU was still ahead the last time I saw it.
